The complete organ works by Dietrich Buxtehude encompass 6 compact discs. Danacord has recorded every organ piece Buxtehude wrote and divided the works between the compact discs such that they follow the church year. The Danish organist Inge Bønnerup performs all the works. She not only studied the works of Buxtehude all her life but also selected a range of very special Danish organs for the recordings. The Danish organ builder Marcussen placed some of his finest instruments in Danish churches. For this complete recording the organs in the churches of Sorø and Jægersborg were very dear to the project and each occupies two compact discs. Each of the last two discs features two organs: the great choir organ of Grundtvigs Church, and also that of Trinitatis Church, where Inge Bønnerup is the appointed organist.
The booklets have long bilingual texts and explanations including the last Buxtehude research covered by prof. Henrik Glahn. Not only the specifications of the organs occupies a special place but also the registration for every work recorded is mentioned. It was our clear intention with this complete recording to present the works of Buxtehude in the most historically correct way, using modern research and equipment to achieve our goal.
