Gurli Plesner: Recordings on Danacord

Gurli Plesner (1934-93) studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music and at the Danish Opera Academy until 1962, in which year she became employed by The Royal Danish Opera, her roles being those of Penelope in Monteverdi's Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria, Lucretia in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, Magdelone in Nielsen's Maskarade and Mrs Quickly in Verdi´s Falstaff. As a concert singer, she obtained engagements at various European symphony orchestras and broadcasting companies in contemporary as well as classical repertoire; soloist in Herman D. Koppel's oratorio Moses. She recorded for EMI, Unicorn (Nielsen's Maskarade) and Turnabout.
