Nikolaj Koppel (born 1969) began piano studies with his grandfather Herman D. Koppel, continuing at The Royal Danish Academy of Music until 1997. After his debut, Nikolaj Koppel toured in Europe, in the USA and Australia, but in 2000 interrupted his career in favour of journalism. In 2005, he was appointed Music Director of the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Nikolaj Koppel has released 3 CDs on EMI, one of them being Brahms Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thomas Dausgaard.
