Karen Heerup: Recordings on Danacord
Karen Heerup (1915-2002) studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music and made her debut at the Royal Danish Opera in 1945 as Leonore in Carl Nielsen's Maskarade. After engagements at The Jutland Opera and Stadttheater Heidelberg, two of her parts being those of Marie in Wozzeck and Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer, she returned to the Royal Danish Opera, in which place she remained until 1974, appearing in roles such as the Countess in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos and the title role in Arabella by Richard Strauss. From 1973 to 1981, she was singing lecturer at the Music Institute of the University of Copenhagen. She recorded for Odeon and EMI.
